Can you restore a deleted product on Shopify?
Deleted Shopify products don't go to a trash folder. What you can still recover, how to rebuild a product quickly, and how to make deletions reversible.
Not from Shopify itself. When you delete a product, Shopify asks you to confirm and then removes it for good: there is no trash folder or recycle bin, and Shopify support cannot bring it back. Past orders keep the line item details, but the product, its variants, description, images and metafields are gone.
What you can still recover
- A CSV export made before the deletion. Delete every row except the product you want, then import it (Products → Import). It comes back with a new product ID.
- The Wayback Machine (web.archive.org), for the description and photos, if the product page was public for a while.
- Old orders, for the title, variant names, SKUs and prices at the time of the order.
- Your sales channels. Marketplaces and feed apps sometimes keep their copy of a listing for a while after it disappears from Shopify.
Rebuilding it by hand
- Use the same URL handle, so old links and search results still work.
- Recreate variants in the original order and give them the same SKUs, so your inventory and fulfilment apps match them up.
- Add it back to its collections and sales channels, and set stock again: a recreated product starts with zero inventory.
- Save it as a draft and check it before you make it active.
Archive instead of delete
If you might sell a product again, archive it instead: set its status to Archived. Archived products are hidden from every sales channel but keep everything, and you can unarchive them any time.
Make deletions reversible
Revertly keeps the latest version of every product in your store. When one is deleted, it appears under Deleted products, and Restore product recreates it as a draft with its variants, prices, SKUs, description, tags, SEO, metafields and images. Like a manual rebuild it gets a new product ID, and stock starts at zero.
